My name is Julia Doyle, and I am so excited to be your child's 2nd grade teacher this year! We are going to have so much and will be learning. I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Elementary Education. This is my fourth year teaching at Pepperhill Elementary.

Be on the lookout for our biweekly newsletter with all of our class updates and standards that we are working on mastering.

This year we will work on many different standards, but here is just a highlight of a few!
In reading students will be able to ask and answer questions while reading, compare multiple versions of the same stories, compare and contrast character's actions and feelings, retell stories, make inferences and draw conclusions, build stamina with their independent reading, understand nonfiction books by asking and answering questions, retell the main idea and details in fiction and nonfiction books, and use text features in a nonfiction book.
In math students will understand place value to 999, read, write and represent numbers to 999, compare two numbers, add and subtract to 999, solve word problems, identify and partition shapes, tell time to the nearest 5 minute interval, and collect and use data to name a few!
In science students will learn about animals, force and motion, magnets, weather and solids and liquids.
In social studies, students will learn about communities, maps, government, economics and culture of different regions of The United States.

We are going to be learning so much in second grade!
